These are the voices of our youth

By the Numbers

  • Provided 1400 meals, 2,000 pieces of clothing and 3,000 toiletries and resources provided for the homeless community in Chicago, NY and LA

  • Annually adopt 4 homeless youth and emergency shelters to prepare and distribute 500 winter care bags yearly. Receiving 4,000 clothing donations, 3,000 toiletries, annually.

  • Collected 1,160 donations of winter items and socks, In one evening directly serve a little over 400 people within the homeless community, with about 50 volunteers throughout 3 locations + several viaducts. (UMatter 2016 Chicago)

  • Collected 120 toys and over 1,300 clothing donations during the two week duration of our drive. All donations collected where delivered on Christmas Eve to the families of Los Angeles House of Ruth, domestic violence survivors. (UMatter Los Angeles)

  • Traveling art program serving homeless youth, Called to Create:

    • Sold $900 worth of art in our exhibit, money goes to youth artist (2017)

    • To date, created nearly 1,000 pieces of art with youth

    • Exhibited at Firecat Art Project, Historic Bronzeville Tourist Visitor Center, DuSable Museum, The Silver Room, Monarch Thrift Shop, The Corner Art Space, Metropolitan Coffee, Dollop Coffee Uptown, Dollop Coffee Hyde Park

  • Those we serve have included House of Ruth Los Angeles, New York Mission, Covenant House Chicago, La Casa Norte, El Rescate, Teen Living Programs Belfort House and Drop-in Center, hundreds of individuals seeking emergency shelter

​

  • Our art programs have traveled into Logan Square, Humboldt Park, Garfield Park, Bronzeville, Near North Chicago, and more to come

​

  • In addition to using art as a vehicle of connection, UMatter winter initiative was created as a way to build bridges within communities in order to serve our homeless community seeking emergency shelter. As a result, nearly 500 individuals are served with winter care bags annually since 2010 in Chicago with initiatives in NY and Los Angeles.
